Nairobi - An ODM MP has been banned from Parliament for one year over misconduct.
Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi will have to stay out of the National
Assembly chambers for 10 months as punishment.
Speaker Justin Muturi said that there will be no forgiveness for the MP who disobeyed orders to leave the house on Thursday.
Wandayi and fellow CORD MPs had tried to interrupt President Uhuru Kenyatta’s State of
the Nation address in Parliament on Thursday before he was thrown out
for defying the Speaker’s order that he leaves the chamber.
" He will be out for 10 months. There is no compromise," Muturi stated.
" He obviously disobeyed. His colleagues left immediately they were informed. That should have been for him but he left and refused," he added.
Wandayi was among a group of ODM MPs who openly defied the President's speech.
