Nairobi - ODM has denied reports that Ababu Namwamba the Secretary General has quit the party.
Party executive director Oduor Ong’wen "strongly condemned" Lawyer Edwin Sifuna for "imposing" himself as ODM secretary general.
truth is that there is no vacancy in the office of the secretary
general," Ong’wen said in a statement Friday.
" The party has a constitution and procedures in line with the Political Parties Act that all members must follow," he added.
" We urge the media, party members, supporters and general public to ignore such unconstitutional antics," he continued.
Sifuna told a press conference in Nairobi Thursday that it is time for Ababu to leave the party after claiming that he was frustrated by the manner in which the party was being run.
Ababu is unhappy with what he says is the undermining of his position by persons close to party leader Raila Odinga.
Reports state that Ababu and other Luhya MPs are looking for a way out of the party.
