Nyota Ndogo explains why her make-up artist failed during her wedding

13 July 2016, 09:47 Steven Mwalily

Mombasa - It is clear that in Kenya one does not struggle much to trend; something weird happens to you and Kenyans take it to social media to air their views. This is what happened to Coast-based singer Nyota Ndogo just after her wedding with a long time Mzungu boyfriend, Henning Nielsen, with Kenyans calling her make-up a failure.

They claimed that she looked like a ghost while others accused her for marrying an old Mzungu saying she was after money and not love.

Speaking to News24 on Tuesday after a media tour in Mombasa where she launched her new song 'Subira', Nyota opened up about her worse make-up blaming the artist who worked on her.

“I later came to understand that the make-up artist was used to perform on light-skinned people, and the make-up could not work on me because I am dark,” she said.

The proud Nyota Ndogo either way called the behaviour of Kenyans on social media as a normal thing, adding that as an artist she always accepts anything that comes from people whether positive or negative.

Later after the wedding, rumors went round that she could not stand the criticism and later hired a new make-up artist.

About the issue of marrying an old Mzungu, the 'Nibebe' hit maker disclosed that she had never received a marriage proposal from a Kenyan man and thus resorted to marry the man of her choice regardless of his origin.

“People say that I am after his money. The truth is that I loved him and you should understand that love is a natural feeling. He is the man of my heart,” she added.
