Nyong’o hits at Ranguma, accuses him of discrimination in tender awards

Nairobi - Kisumu County Senator, Prof Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has poured cold water on the administration of Governor Jack Ranguma accusing it of favouritism and discrimination in awarding tenders.
The senator has termed as ‘skewed’ the manner in which contracts are being awarded in the lake side county citing lack of transparency and unfairness.
Addressing the press over the weekend, Prof Nyong’o further claimed that most contractors were also not being paid on time.
“Some contractors have lost their property after being auctioned by commercial banks for failure to service their loans promptly. This is because the county government doesn’t pay contractors on time.” he claimed.
The senator says the trend has led to some banks shying away from doing businesses with contractors in the lakeside city.
Prof. Nyong’o who has declared his bid to dislodge Ranguma at the same time supported the concerns raised by a group dubbed ‘Kisumu Diaspora Group’ which has poked holes into the leadership style of Governor Ranguma.
The group, commonly referred to as ‘Oluwo Reru’ refers to people from neighbouring counties who have settled in Kisumu and have constantly accused the governor of sidelining and not having their interests at heart.
Governor Ranguma last week accused the group of trying to destabilise his government ahead of the 2017 polls.
