Nyeri - A middle-aged woman was hospitalized at Nyeri Referral Hospital after miscarrying while riding on a boda boda at Ngangarithi village in Nyeri town.
Members of the public and boda boda operators attributed the incident to poor state of roads in the area.
They barricaded the road with stones, digging trenches and planting bananas to express their outrage against the local County Government which they said has neglected them.
During the protests, residents were forced to walk on foot as motorbikes could not access the area.

“Our roads are full of potholes. The woman experienced that incidence because of shaking and deep potholes. Boda bodas are our major mode of transport,” said Simon Kariuki, one of the residents.
The demonstrators petitioned the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) together with the County Government to improve the roads.
“We want to make our concerns known. We have for a long period suffered and still continue suffering and incurring losses due to poor state of roads. Boda boda operators, motorists and residents collectively suffer as a result of poor and impassable roads,” said Amos Muchiri, another resident.
A boda boda operator, Lukas Kimani said their motorbikes were wearing out fast because of the roads.
