Ntimama death: I have lost a personal and honest friend, says Raila

Nairobi - Leaders continue to mourn the death of former Cabinet Minister William Ole Ntimama.
Opposition Chief Raila Odinga Saturday while sending his condolences to the family of the 86 year old politician said he has lost a great personal friend.
"It is with a great sense of personal loss that I have learnt of the passing away of Ntimama. His passing truly marks an end to an era, " said Raila.
" We will remember Bill as an untiringadvocate for the rights of indigenous communities who have been trampled on from the colonial times, throughpost-colonial Kenya to date," he added.
The CORD leader in a press statement pointed out that the deceased was particularly passionate about the uplifting of his long deprived Maasai community and thecommunity’s land rights.
He added that he was a strong champion of environmental conservation. He understood thatenvironment is life not only for posterity.
" His death deprives the country of a critical voice on critical issues that the nation ought to confront. I have lost a personal and honest friend in his death, " concluded Raila.
Ntimama died Thursday night at 10.30 PM aged 86 at his Narok home from what has been described as natural causes.
