Nairobi - National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) has faulted county governments over low budgetary allocation on gender mainstreaming and eradicating gender based violence.
According to NGEC Principal Officer, George Wanyonyi, counties across the country are reporting high numbers of gender based violence cases hence administrations must be proactive.
Wanyonyi notes that, the commission was carrying out ‘Keeping the promise campaign' aimed at ending gender based violence but little has been done.
Wanyonyi points out only five counties of the 47, have signed the pledge an indication the county administrators are yet to embrace to end gender based violence.
Some of the counties that have signed include; Nakuru, Nyeri, Nairobi, Kilifi and Mombasa.
