New Jubilee party has Moi, Kibaki's blessings

28 December 2015, 14:47 Jackson Okata

Nakuru - The merger of Jubilee alliance affiliate parties to a single party has received the blessings of retired presidents Daniel arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki, Nakuru town east MP David Gikaria has said.

Gikaria said the two retired leaders gave president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy the nod to form one single party that will unite the country.

He added that UhuRuto consulted Moi and Kibaki before arriving at the decision to dissolve their parties and form one party.

Speaking Sunday in Nakuru town, Gikaria said Moi and Kibaki felt that the new party will unite the country and help deal with tribalism.

"The new Jubilee party of Kenya has already been blessed by both Moi and Kibaki and that shows the importance of such a party," said Gikaria.

"If Moi and Kibaki are for this new party, who are we to be against it?" he posed.

Gikaria added that both the retired presidents will be invited for the official launch of the new party next year.

"For those still doubting, they will believe when they see both Moi and Kibaki at the launch of the party next year," he said.

He called on the CORD coalition to also dissolve their individual member parties to give IEBC an easy time in 2017.
