Nairobi - A CORD Coalition Senator wants the 2017 General Elections candidate named by Christmas.
Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar says that the move will allow CORD be in the right frame of mind several months to the elections and help it strategize.
He says that CORD will remove Jubilee from power but that they have to be bright about it.
" CORD will remove Jubilee from power but we have to plan meticulously and ensure that we have everything in place by the beginning of the year so as to start preparation in earnest," he said.
He insists that without CORD coming together, there will be a serious problem.
" That is why we need to know the flag bearer in advance, so we can meet other parties willing to join the Coalition as well as just sell it well to the people of Kenya," he added.
According to Omar, Jubilee will go down come 20717 as it is clueless on how best to improve the lives of Kenyans.
" Jubilee is in a much easier position. It could never have been expected that Uhuru was not going to seek re-election. They enjoy this unique position while we have to navigate a lot of interests to come up with the best formula for victory," he added.
Raila Odinga, Moses Wetang'ula and Kalonzo Musyoka are all seeking the CORD ticket for the 2017 polls.
