Nairobi - A Senior manager at the Nakumatt Supermarkets has shot dead his colleague in an incident which took place at the company's Industrial Area offices.
The incident took place Tuesday afternoon after the deceased allegedly took a machete (panga) and started chasing colleagues in the office with it, in the end hurting one of his colleagues.
The manager, on noticing the incident and is a licensed fire-arm holder then shot the man dead.
He was proclaimed dead on arrival at the Mater Hospital in Nairobi.
The incident is being investigated by Police.
" We have been told that the deceased who had been mentally challenged took a panga and started chasing around colleagues with it and in the process injured one of them. He was then fatally shot by the boss," Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome told News24 on phone.
The fire-arm has been confiscated in the meantime while investigations continue, Koome stated.
The incident comes a few months after an auditor at the supermarket was shot dead in his vehicle in what was later announced as a cold blooded killing.
Nakumatt is Kenya's biggest supermarket chain.
