Naivasha - Most hotels in Naivasha are jammed with Nairobi residents who have chosen to spend this year's Christmas holiday in the tourist town.
According to Kenya Hoteliers Naivasha chapter chairman, Peter Macharia, local tourists mostly from Nairobi have booked 85% of all hotels ahead of Christmas which will be celebrated on Friday.
Speaking Sunday at the Naivasha Cray fish hotel, Macharia said that Nairobians have moved from the traditional way of travelling upcountry to celebrate Christmas and are now opting to being domestic tourists.
"We have a booking of up to 85% of all the space available and most of our guests are local tourists mostly from Nairobi and a few from other parts of the country," said Macharia.
He added that they expect all major hotels at the town to be fully booked by the eve of Christmas, adding that they have partnered with the police department to ensure and guarantee the security of all the people who will be touring the town.
