Muslim man steals pigs

Kampala - Residents of Rugenda village in the western Uganda district of Rubirizi got the shock of their lives when a Muslim man was caught with stolen pigs.
The villagers had for long been complaining about the theft of their pigs.
According to one of the villagers Tom Mbaguta, they have for long been wondering about who stole their pigs.
" For over a year pigs have been being stolen from our homes. At least one pig is stolen every week from different homes," said Mbaguta.
He said that Thursday morning, a villager identified as Lauben Joogo complained that his pig had been stolen last night. He however said that since it was stolen just after rainfall and it was possible to follow the footprints of the stolen pig and the thief.
Several villagers volunteered to help him track the footprints.
But as they followed the foot prints they were confused as they led to a Muslim's homestead.
" Some of us who were tracking said that the mission should abort because no Muslim can steal a pig but others said we should continue to get the truth, " said Joogo.
He said they continued and were shocked when they found the pig that was stolen yesterday night and another one stolen three days ago hidden behind Ashraf Gabirwe's house.
Gabirwe was was working in a garden a small distance away with his wife. The villagers confronted him, started beating him up demanding to know how the stolen pigs came to him home.
He confessed that he has been the one stealing pigs and selling them to a man who ferries them to Kampala. He has been fined one million Uganda shillings over the incident.
