Nairobi - A 58-year-old senior Administration Police (AP) officer in Murang’a County has shot himself in the head, ostensibly in an attempted suicide mission.
Daniel Ragae attached to Ngelinya AP Post in Gatanga sub-county is said to have used a G3 riffle.
He was rushed to Thika Level Four hospital where he was admitted.
His colleagues said Ragae resumed duty Sunday after a leave and that he looked depressed over unknown issues to them.
“We heard a gunshot rent the air. We rushed to his house and snatched the rifle from him and immobilized him, he was oozing blood from the head,” said one of his colleagues.
Murang’a County Commissioner, John Elungata said police have launched investigations into the matter.
He urged police officers to share their problems and disturbing issues to avoid scenarios that could lead to suicide.
“The cases are becoming common thus I am asking officers to seek counselling before it is too late,” said Elungata.
