Mungiki attack Raila's office: CORD

Nairobi - According to the CORD Coalition, members of the Mungiki Sect have attacked leader Raila Odinga's office.
The incident is said to have taken place Wednesday afternoon in the guise of protesters who were demonstrating against the violence meted out during the CORD IEBC demos on Monday which saw a matatu burnt.
The protesters, many of them matatu operators had marched through the streets of Nairobi earlier and were hell bent on taking a burnt shell of the matatu to the CORD leader's office in Capitol Hill.
But now according to CORD media chief Philip Etale, the attack has been orchestrated by the Mungiki Sect.
" Mungiki have invaded Capitol Hill office of CORD Leader Raila Odinga, caused havoc and left as police watch," he said Wednesday afternoon.
Police, when contacted by News24 stated that they had not received any reports of sch an attack.
" We are yet to be informed of sch an attack. Our officers were on the site and we are yet to hear anything," Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome said.
But according to Etale, Police have been in the know all through.
" Teargas is only used when CORD are holding peaceful demonstrations, but
dormant when Jubilee are looting and harassing people in town," he added.
The demonstrations come in the wake of continued agitation over the state of the IEBC by CORD who want it disbanded and have been on the streets for the last four weeks arguing so.
