Nairobi - Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament David Gikaria has alleged a plot to kill him by members of the outlawed Mungiki sect.
Gikaria made the allegations before a Nakuru high court where he appeared to answer to charges of demolishing a perimeter wall on a private property.
Through his lawyer Paschal Mbeche, Gikaria told the court that he has been receiving threats from alleged members of the outlawed Mungiki sect whom he alleged are being sent by the complainant in the case.
The lawyer pleaded with the court to order that his client’s security be enhanced following the alleged threats.
"I want to go on record that the MP has received numerous death threats. I ask the court to direct my client be given enough security and be escorted to record statements," Mbeche said.
The prosecution however rubbished the claims by the MP saying that he had not recorded any statement with the police..
Nakuru chief magistrate David Kimei directed Gikaria that he records a statement over the alleged threats with the police for further action.
Gikaria alongside others is facing charges of maliciously destroying a private property.
The case continues.
