Nairobi - Malindi MP Dan Kazungu left ODM for the Cabinet after having a word with party leader Raila Odinga.
An aide of the former MP told News24 that the news of the nomination to the Cabinet as Mining Cabinet Secretary was not a surprise and even though he has been a strong point for the party, Raila gave him his blessings when it was clear he wanted to pursue the opportunity.
" There is no hard feelings. He left with Raila's blessings. They had a word over it and he has left with open arms," the aide stated.
Kazungu said during vetting for his new position that he wanted to serve Kenyans and that it was his only driving force in pursing the opportunity.
" I want to serve Kenyans. That is all that is on my mind," he stated.
Kazungu is the second ODM Mp to have been poached into government, following in the footsteps of the now Interior and Coordination CS Joseph Nkaissery who was the former Kajiado Central MP.
