MP in court for damage of property, theft

Nakuru - Nakuru Town East member of Parliament, David Gikaria was Monday arraigned in court and charged for maliciously damaging private property estimated to be worth KES 7 million.
According to court documents, Gikaria together with others who were not in court led members of public in destroying property belonging to ENSE limited at Nakuru's Naka estate on June 6, 2015.
The prosecution alleged that Gikaria and other activists led protesters in bringing down a perimeter wall that was surrounding a piece of land belonging to the company.

He is also facing charges of stealing over 300 wheelbarrows and other assorted items worth KES 2 million.
Appearing before Nakuru magistrate David Kemei, Gikaria denied the charges and was released on a bond of KES 500,000 or a KES 100,000 cash bail.
The case will be heard on August 9.
