Nairobi - An MP has seemingly changed his mind over plans to join the ruling
Jubilee Coalition from the opposition ODM.
Richard Onyonka, the MP for Kitutu South had earlier claimed
that he and others will be leaving ODM for Jubilee but he has now changed his
He says that he will not leave ODM for the government but
rather form a party that will help Kisii’s move forward.
“I will not leave ODM for Jubilee. I did not say that I
would do so. I only stated that the community needs its own bargaining power,”
he told News24.
He called on those spreading malicious rumours to stop
causing disunity in the region.
“We pride ourselves in being unified despite our different
thinking at times and that will not be interfered with,” he added.
Onyonka, Kisii Senator Chris Obure, Nyamira senator Okongo Mongare and EALA’s
Joseph Kiango have also been linked to Jubilee from ODM.
But CORD leader Raila Odinga says that the decision to shift
allegiance will not stop his plans for the region.
“Nothing changes. Kisii is ODM and ODM is Kisii,” he stated.
