Murang'a - Mortuary attendants at Murang’a District Hospital on Wednesday downed their tools, leaving mourners stranded.
The attendants joined other health workers from various departments in protests over delayed November salaries.
They camped outside the mortuary and hospital gates thus disrupting services.
Some of the workers who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of victimization said the County government has been mistreating them.

They claimed that other staff who are on permanent employment got their pay on time while casual workers had their salaries delayed even for more than three months.
The County government officials however rushed to address the protestors after learning that the mourners were planning to march with empty coffins to the Governor’s office.
The workers later agreed to resume duties in the afternoon after the Chief Finance Officer, Edwin Kimuyu assured them that the salaries will be paid.
