Nyeri - Thousands of mourners were treated to a shock after they went hungry without food during Former First Lady Lucy Kibaki’s burial contrary to the culture among many Kenyan communities.
They were only given bottled water by National Youth Service (NYS) servicemen at the entrance of the Othaya Approved Grounds where the funeral mass was ongoing.
To amusement of many, the organizers of the event had erected close to 100 mobile toilets in various corners of the field and also outside the field.
In events of such magnitude, organizers usually give out packed foods and beverages to the mourners for comforting the bereaved family.
According to most Kenyan communities’ cultural practices, visitors must be fed during whichever event at any cost.
