Moi the reason Uhuru stayed away from Kericho

Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta did not go to Kericho to campaign out of respect for former President Daniel Moi.
According to State House insiders, The President did not go to Kericho in-order to stay away from the turf wars between the former President's son Gideon and DP William Ruto.
The President had planned to go to Kericho to campaign for Jubilee candidate Aaron Cheruiyot but instead he gave it a wide berth.
" The President did not go because of his respect for the former President," a State House insider told News24.
The retired President was the one that handed Uhuru his break into active politics.

" The President still listens and respects the opinion of the retired President. He does not want to be involved in spats that might ruin their relationship," the source added.
There is an ongoing rivalry for Rift Valley supremacy between DP Ruto and KANU boss Gideon Moi which has at times got very ugly with insults flying from all corners.
DP Ruto was quoted as calling Gideon an uncircumcised boy, a statement that caused furore.
