Kisii - In a rare occurrence a 22-year-old woman has given birth to a set of conjoined twins, popularly known as Siamese twins, at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital. Lydia Boyani successfully gave birth to Ven Kerubo and Mary Kwamboka through a Cesarean section at 6am.
"We never expected twins, this is a big surprise to us. I just hope everything will be Ok with them,"said Boyani.
According to Dr John Omboga who performed the operation, the twins are currently under specialized treatment and monitoring.
This he says will help evaluate the twins’ conditions before taking any steps pertaining to their separation.
Dr Omboga adds that they will have to transfer the conjoined twins to Kenyatta National Hospital for separation.
