Miraa van kills three people at Sagana

Murang'a - A Probox vehicle that was ferrying miraa to Nairobi collided with a saloon car along Sagana-Kenol road, killing three people and injuring three others.

Murang’a South OCPD, Samuel Koskei said the Probox had five people on board.
Koskei said two men and one woman died on the spot while the driver of the saloon car and two occupants of the Probox were taken to Kenol Hospital for treatment.
He attributed the accident to careless driving saying it occurred as one driver was trying to overtake.

He stated that roadblocks have been put along the highway to detect speeding drivers but road users monitor the traffic police and call each other if one of them spots the roadblocks.
“Once drivers know where police are located, they slow down when approaching the area. After passing the police roadblock, they start speeding again,” said Koskei.
Eyewitnesses said the area is a black spot as many lives have been lost in the stretch mostly due to over-speeding.
