Media orchestrated Waiguru's fall from glory, says MP

27 November 2015, 09:28 Jackson Okata

Nakuru - A member of Parliament has blamed the media for successfully orchestrating the fall from glory of former devolution CS, Anne Waiguru.

Nakuru county women representative, Mary Mbugua said that the media fabricated and propagated lies against Waiguru without giving her a fair coverage.

Speaking Thursday in Nakuru town, Mbugua said that the media was openly biased against Waiguru whom she said was turning to be among Kenyan's toughest woman.

"The media hated Waiguru because she is a woman and they took part in fabricating and spreading lies that led to her fall from glory. They never covered her positively and never allowed her to defend herself,"said Mbugua.

She said that Waiguru would still be in office now had the media been fair.

"The mistake Waiguru did was to over-perform and that angered many people including the media and they partnered to finish her," she said.

Mbugua also blamed fellow women members of Parliament for turning their backs against Waiguru at the time she needed them most.

"All women in Parliament kept quite while the media and public were crucifying Waiguru and some even joined the crusade of bringing her down," she lamented.
