Nyeri - A member of the Isiolo County Assembly has presented his G3 rifle and 20 bullets to the government a month after expiry of an amnesty.
Peter Losu of Ngaremara Ward registered his illegal gun at the County Commisioner, George Natembeya offices.
He produced his gun following an amnesty that was given by Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery who also directed herders in the area to register their guns before a disarmament exercise.
Losu is the first resident to register his firearm as he asked others to follow suit to ensure the government is aware of the firearms in civilian’s hands.

On his part, Natembeya said most of the guns in wrong hands were being used by thieves and cattle rustlers, thus the importance of registering them.
He praised the MCA and asked other leaders to follow suit even as he encouraged villagers to come forward and register their firearms.
He explained that guns holders receive their guns after registration, thus no need to fear.
