Bungoma - A Member of the Bungoma County Assembly, Okumu Majimbo was Wednesday arraigned in a Bungoma court charged for assaulting a watchman.
The court was told that on September 10, 2015 the Khalaba Ward leader assaulted and caused body harm on Sirengo Nyongesa, a guard manning the Bungoma County Governor's office during a demonstration against the KES 1 million wheelbarrow saga.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate John King’ori, Majimbo denied the charges.

Majimbo was represented by his lawyer, Emmanuel Situma who asked the court to furnish him with the complainant statement.
“Your honour I am requesting this honourable court to allow the police officers to help me with the complainant statement to help me prepare well to represent my client because I don’t know the complainant in this case,” said Situma.
Majimbo, an immediate former Bungoma County Assembly Majority leader, was released on a KES 50 000 bond or a cash bail of KES 30 000.
The courtroom was packed with Majimbo supporters and fellow colleagues who were waiting with abated breath for his release.
The case will be heard on February 28, 2016.
