Nairobi - Residents of Maragi area near Murang’a town on Tuesday woke up to a rude shock after they found the body of a matatu driver which had deep cuts lying a few metres from his home.
The deceased, identified as Stephen Muchoki was attacked by unknown assailants who cut him several times with a sharp object as he walked to his home on Monday night.
His head and shoulders had deep cuts and the assailants are believed only to be after his life since money and the food items he had bought for his family were left intact.
Local residents termed the driver as a good person who lived peacefully wondering what caused his brutal killing.
The brother to the deceased, Jack Kariuki lamented that the father of three was a well-known driver of Public Service Vehicles (PSV) plying along Murang’a-Kangema road.

One of the local residents, Daniel Ngugi noted that there is increased insecurity since Muchoki was the fourth person to be killed in a span of two months.
He appealed to the police to increase patrols in the area and arrest those who are perpetrating the killings adding that many of the residents are living in fear of being attacked.
