Nyeri - Othaya MP, Mary Wambui has threatened to sue one of her rivals for defamation and spreading rumours that she never paid a debt of KES 3 million incurred during the 2013 elections.
Wambui also denied owing any money to her supporters who helped her clinch the parliamentary seat.
“If I owe anybody even a cent, I will send my lawyers here in Othaya so they can claim their money. I hear there is one or two people going around Othaya claiming that I owe them money. If I ran out of money that time, I would have gone to the bank and taken a loan or borrow from my wealthy friends,” she said.

A Nairobi businessman is said to have claimed that the MP has a debt amounting to millions of shillings from the 2013 campaigns.
The MP was speaking at Othaya CDF hall after disbursing bursary cheques worth KES 2 million to local needy bright students.
At the same time, she said the CDF kitty should remain at the management of parliamentarians and should not be given to County Governments.
“Governors are supposed to account for what they have received since inception of devolution before demanding CDF top up,” said Wambui.
She also blasted the Nyeri Government for taking credit of the murram roads in her constituency saying some were funded by CDF.
