Mangiti turns the heat on juniors over erroneous documents

11 November 2015, 10:39 Dennis Omido

Nairobi - Planning Principal Secretary, Peter Mangiti has turned up the heat on his juniors over document that revealed shocking procurement malpractices in the Devolution ministry.

Speaking in Nairobi on Tuesday, Mangiti said he will be seeking answers from his officers as to why they failed to make corrections to the document even after he directed them to do so.

“I had gone through the document some weeks back and noticed the errors which I asked the officers to correct before submitting the document to parliament.

“However, this was not done and that is why I will be seeking answers from them as to why they did not work on the errors in the assets register as I had directed them,” Mangiti said.

He maintained that there was no plan to fix Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru saying it was a human error.

“I am treating this as a human error for now, and there was no malice whatsoever against the CS. Just like I said, the document was erroneous and it will be corrected before submitting in parliament in two weeks time,” Mangiti said.

His remarks came hours after Waiguru was grilled by officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Waiguru maintained her innocence over the alleged scandal in her ministry through her lawyer, Ahmednasir Abdullahi.

According to Nassir, the CS has no case to answer and she would instead be a witness in the case where millions of shillings are said to have been lost through the National Youth Service projects.
