Mandera Governor accuses KDF of lying about Shabaab attack

Nairobi - Mandera Governor Ali Roba has accused the Kenya Defence Forces KDF of lying about the alleged killing of two members of the Al Shabaab militia group.
The KDF announced Monday morning that it had killed two militants in a Toyota Probox vehicle who were looking to escape and detonate the vehicle in a public place.
The two were later branded Al Shabaab militants.
Roba though, says that the story from the KDF does not add up and that he and other Mandera leaders visited the site and found the story not making any sense.

Following the unfortunate incident this morning where the KDF officers shot at a Probox killing 2 and injuring 5 ,we have come to realize that the information given by the officers that there was an explosion from inside the car before they started shooting at the occupants did not add up.
I personally visited the scene in the company of several officials and found the car and nearby buildings riddled with bullets. There was no sign of an explosion.I therefore , demand for thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution of officers found culpable. We cannot afford to lose public trust when they are co-operating in the fight against terror.
I would like to urge the public to remain calm as we demand for justice. My sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims of today's incident.
