Man kills father for calling him ‘lazy’

Nyeri - Grief has engulfed residents of Karuri Village in Kigumo, Murang’a County after a middle-aged man hit his father with a hoe killing him instantly.
Irungu Mburu killed his father, Mburu Macharia on Saturday after he accused him of being lazy.
A family member, Stephen Ndung’u said the two started quarreling in the morning but the father went to tend his farm, leaving his son at home.
Ndung’u lamented that when the two met again at home at in the afternoon, they picked up quarrel which resulted in the murder.

“The father spent most of his time in the farm but when he returned home he was confronted by his son who was armed with a jembe,” said Ndung’uwho revealed that the two have been having a dispute for a long time as the father kept on pressurizing the first-born son to search for job and be independent.
Residents who milled at their home claimed the young man has been abusing drugs, which could have contributed to the uncanny behaviour.
Irungu, who is still at large is alleged to have escaped with the hoe he used and a panga that his father was holding.
The body of the victim was taken to Murang’a county hospital mortuary by police officers.
