Man killed in Tetu over KES.40 Macadamia nuts

Nyeri - A 42-year-old suspected macadamia nuts thief has been killed in Kangaita area, Tetu, Nyeri County.
The suspect was allegedly nabbed on top of the tree stealing one kilogramme of the nuts worth KES.40.
In mysterious circumstances, the owner of the farm was said to have allegedly killed the man but reported to the police that he was killed by mob.
He has since gone underground after neigbours threatened to revenge.
Area deputy county commissioner, Herman Shambi, said the irked neigbours have since vowed to torch his house in revenge mission though police have been mobilized.
Shambi said police are investigating whether it is a case of rivalry between the two locals.
Cases of theft of macadamia have been on the rise in the area since this is the peak season.
