Nairobi - A man was charged with murder for allegedly killing his girlfriend and hiding her body under a bed in his Nairobi flat.
The man Martin Kunguru Opiyo Junior denied the charge when he appeared before High Court judge James Wakiaga on Thursday.
He is alleged to have killed his girlfriend Charity Mukami in his house on December 15, 2015.
Kunguru will remain in custody until January 28 when his private doctor will give a second opinion on his mental status.
The government however insists that Kunguru is mentally fit to stand trial.
Mukami's body was found in Kunguru’s house, a week after she had disappeared from her parents’ home in Tassia, Embakasi when she had left to meet him at his place. The parents got worried when she did not get back that evening as she had stated and when they called Kunguru, he insisted that she had already left.
A week later, Police found her body lying in a pool of blood in his house.
