Nairobi - A young man has been handed a nine-month imprisonment term for stealing two goats from his neighbor in Kiandu location Tetu, Nyeri County.
Daniel Mugo Maina was convicted by Nyeri Chief Magistrate John Oyiengo on his own plea of guilty.
The court heard that the convict committed the offence on the night of July 31 and August 1, this year.
The prosecution told the court that the complainant heard movements outside his house at night and walked out to check what was happening.
On realizing that two of his goats were missing he raised alarm and neighbors responded.
A search begun immediately leading to the arrest of the convict who was found in possession of the said livestock valued at KES.17,000.
The complainant also positively identified the goats at the local chief’s office.
The convict in mitigation prayed for forgiveness but was slapped with the punishment without option of a fine
