Staff at the guest house said the body was foaming from the mouth as it lay in a pool of fluids he had vomited, they suspected poisoning as a bottle, half full of beer was found in the room.

A bar attendant said that the man had been drinking with an unknown woman before his death.

Confirming the incident, Homa Bay County Police Commander, John Omusanga said they found the body lying on the floor with no physical injuries.

He said the mysterious woman with whom the man was reveling is a person of interest who could unravel the cause of the man’s death adding that investigators had taken samples to the government chemist for analysis.

“We have taken all the drinks and the wet beddings found in the room to the Government Chemist to enable us know what caused the death,” said Omusanga.

At the same time, Omusanga appealed to members of the public with any relevant information regarding the woman to avail it to police in confidence.

The body was taken to Homa Bay county referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
