Man fined KES.100K for trafficking bhang

Nairobi - A man found guilty of trafficking in bhang by a Nanyuki court has been fined KES.100,000 in default serve one year in jail.
Wario Guyo had allegedly been found in possession of one kilogram of bhang with a street value of KES.10,000, charges that he denied in court.

He committed the offence on April 6, 2015, the court heard.
During hearing of the case, the prosecution adduced four witnesses who told the court that the accused was arrested while travelling in a lorry.
The driver of the lorry was acquitted for lack of evidence.
Upon search, the police found the bhang stashed in a bag belonging to the accused.
In mitigation, the accused pleaded for leniency, saying he was the breadwinner of his family and that he had dropped out of school.
However, the court said was satisfied with the evidence adduced in court against the accused.
“I am making a finding that the accused was ferrying bhang and as such find him guilty as charged and convict him,” court observed.
