Man drowns while crossing a river

Nyeri - A 40-year-old man drowned while crossing River Lokuto in Isiolo North following heavy rains on Thursday night.
According to area Chief Selina Lemakara, the man was trying to cross the river when he was swept away by raging waters.
His body was discovered a distant away by residents.
Joint efforts by the residents and police officers to retrieve the body were slowed after it started raining on Friday morning, hindering visibility.
Police urged residents living near rivers to be careful during this rainy season while crossing flooded rivers.
Parents were also urged to be vigilant about their school going children during this season arguing that most of them cross rivers while heading to schools.
