Nyeri - Murang’a police have arrested a 35-year-old man who clobbered his father, 75, to death following a quarrel over a packet of two kilograms wheat flour.
John Kamau killed Peter Kinyanjui Kago at their home in Mutheru village in Kandara sub-county.
Relatives said he slashed the ageing man three times using a panga.
They said Kamau was depending on his father for provision of food though he had already been allocated a piece of land with tea bushes.
Murang’a acting Police Commander Johnstone Limo said the assailant later surrendered to a local Nyumba Kumi official and narrated what had happened.
He was taken to Githumu police station where he was locked up awaiting court trial.
Limo said the deceased was rushed to Thika Level District Hospital where he succumbed to injuries on arrival.
It emerged that the deceased had been bought the flour by her daughter Mary Waithera who had visited him
