Man charged for torching wife's house on Christmas day

Nyahururu - A 32-year-old man on Monday appeared before a Nyahururu court charged with arson.
Wachira Waweru who appeared before chief Magistrate Judith Wanjala denied the charge and was released on a KES 100 000 bond and a surety of a similar amount.
Waweru was charged that on December 25 this year at Kalamton village in Nyandarua County he burnt down a house worth KES 50 000 property of Mrs Wambui Wachira.
The court heard that on the material day, the accused went home drunk and picked a quarrel with the complainant who is his wife before setting torching the two-room house.
Wambui sought refuge at her neighbour’s home and reported the matter at Ol Kalou police station. The accused was arrested and later charged with the offense.
The case was set for hearing on March 31 next year.
