Man burns wife with hot oil for changing her Facebook password

22 July 2016, 11:32 Marc Mbugua

Naivasha - A man in Naivasha has shocked residents after he splashed hot oil on his wife’s face for changing her Facebook account password without his knowledge.

The man also bit her nose and lips as their two children watched in horror.

The woman was rushed to Naivasha sub-county hospital in critical condition by neighbors who were responding to distress calls by their children.

A witness said that the couple had arrived in Naivasha a couple of months ago where they have been selling second hand clothes.

“The woman was preparing fish when an argument arose over her Facebook password before the man grabbed the pan with the hot oil and splashed it on the woman’s face as their kids watched,” said a witness.

The Superintendent in charge of Naivasha sub-County hospital, Dr Jospeh Mburu confirmed the incident but said the woman was stable.

He said that the burns were deep and that the victim will need grafting later.

“Currently, she is admitted in hospital in serious condition and the upper part of the left eye, neck and back have been affected by the hot oil,” he said.
