19 April 2016, 17:24 Zainabu Juma

MMakueni - A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the killing of his mother in Nzaui sub-county, Makueni County.

The man who was identified as Mutuku Musa was arrested at Kabati trading centre in Nguu where he went hiding after allegedly committing the heinous act.

“The man was has been arrested with the help of the members of the public who tipped the police about his hiding place,” said Nzaui sub-county OCPD Alex Ndung’u.

Ndung’u disclosed that the man allegedly killed his mother after he suspected that she was the one bewitching him although it is believed that family issues contributed to the act.

Saying the man is being held at Emali Police Station, the OCPD said that Musa will be arraigned in court.

It is also suspected that the young man might be involved in drug abuse, specifically taking bhang that might have driven him to commit the crime.

The man is said to have gone to his home at Wolwa village and started shouting that he will kill somebody after which he hit his mother severally with a blunt object on the head.

He also injured his sister and uncle who responded to the alarm raised by his mother.

They were taken to Makindu sub-county hospital for treatment.
