Maasai leaders threaten to quit ODM for Jubilee

Nairobi - Maasai leaders from Narok and Kajiado counties have threatened to
ditch ODM citing the harassment of Nairobi assembly Speaker Alex Magelo.
The leaders said they will support President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party if Magelo is removed from office.
Some ODM MCA's want to impeach Magelo for not defending the honour of Governor Evans Kidero who has been facing impeachment charges.
" Some of the MCA's want Magelo gone for not protecting ODM members and despite the party supporting his move to be the Speaker," a Maasai leader who asked not to be named told News24.
ODM is fighting a steep battle to win Maasai votes after losing to Jubilee in the 2013 polls in the region.
And if the remaining Maa go away, it could spell trouble for the party.
" ODM does not need any problems in Maasai land right now. They need to build bridges and not burn them, so they better act," the leader added.
Magelo's motion has been sponsored by Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok.
