LSK: Lawyers are under threat but will not be intimidated

Nairobi - The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) rift valley branch has called on lawyers countrywide not to be cowed or intimidated in the course of their work following the disappearance of lawyer Willy Kimani who was kidnapped after representing Josephat Mwenda at the Mavoko law courts a week ago.
Addressing the press Thursday in Nakuru town, LSK rift valley branch chairman Frank Mwangi called on lawyers to discharge their duties without any fear whatsoever.
Mwangi said that the kidnapping of lawyer Kimani and his client is a clear indication that lawyers are under threat.

“It has been now a week since our colleague Willy Kimani disappeared together with his client and the police have so far not given any information on his whereabouts,” said Mwangi.
“We want to state that lawyers will not be cowered or intimidated because the work we are doing is constitutional,” he said.
“The disappearance of Willy proves that lawyers are under threat but we will not be intimidated,” he added.
The lawyers threatened to take further action if the police fail to produce lawyer Kimani immediately.
