Lorry conductor, five women perish in Murang'a crash

Murang'a - A lorry conductor and four women have perished following a fatal road accident at Kiriaini, Mathioya constituency in Murang’a County.
Another woman succumbed to injuries at Kiriani Mission Hospital where she had been rushed alongside three other people with serious injuries.
The accident occurred along Mwangathia-Kiriani-Kagicha road.
Police said the Canter lorry that was ferrying fruits was ascending a hill when it lost control.

“The lorry lost momentum and while reversing hit culvert. It ran over five passengers who jerked out of the vehicle, killing them on the spot. They were aged between 36 and 57 years,” said the police.
The whereabouts of the driver were yet to be established but police said they were investigating the matter.
The bodies were taken to Kiriaini Mission Hospital mortuary and the lorry towed to Kiriaini police station.
