Larry Madowo protests sacking
07 January 2016, 18:06
Nairobi - Senior Editor at the Nation Media group Denis Galava has
been suspended following an article that he wrote openly
criticizing the Kenyan government and the president on how they are handling
matters. This incident has prompted mass protest from people in the media
industry, including Nation Media Group’s very own Larry Madowo.
In a post on social media, the TV host expressed his
disappointment at this suspension saying that it had set a bad precedent to the
journalists working in the company.
" I was dismayed and
disappointed by the decision to suspend Daily Nation Special Projects Managing
Editor Denis Galava for Saturday's editorial critical of President Kenyatta and
" As a journalist at the Nation Media Group, I worried that
it set a bad precedent and I said as much to Editor-In-Chief Tom Mshindi," he added.
NMG has since issued a statement explaining the decision to members of the public.
