Kuria: Jubilee will beat CORD if Raila becomes flagbearer

Nairobi - The Jubilee coalition will beat the Opposition CORD coalition if former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will be the presidency flagbearer, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has asserted.
Kuria said Uhuru Kenyatta’s government will continue to rule if the CORD coalition settles on Raila’s candidature.
“Cord Co-principals Stephen Musyoka and Moses Wetangula should let Odinga go for presidency so that we can defeat him early. We should give him another busy job like that climate-change jobs,” said Kuria in Nyeri.
Recently, Wetangula was reported in a section of the media dismissing any possibility of Odinga ever clinching the presidency in Kenya through CORD.
Wetangula maintained that the Opposition was doomed to fail if they settle on Odinga as the presidential candidate.
According to the Bungoma Senator, given that Odinga has unsuccessfully given a shot at the presidency three times, he should either back him or Kalonzo.
The remarks led to an online spat between Wetangula and CORD blogger Robert Alai, who said that the senator was doing nothing to market the CORD coalition.
“Raila is camping on the ground and doing grassroots campaign while Wetangula spends most of his time trying to blackmail corporates. Then he says Raila should endorse him. Please stop embarrassing yourself,” said Alai.
In response, Wetangula described Alai's remarks as pure ‘ignorance and vitriol’.
He also defended his request to be endorsed for the presidency saying that he was the only solution if CORD was to form the next government.
