Nairobi - The Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT bosses, their Post Primary Counterparts KUPPET and other stakeholders met with new Education CS Fred Matiang'i in a closed door meeting Monday to discuss the way forward as regards the teachers pay saga.
The trio met Monday in Nairobi in a meeting none of them openly came out to comment about afterwards.
Sources though, say that teachers pay matters took centre stage and that the union leaders were insistent on there being quick deliberations over the matter.
The meeting came just a day after Matiang'i stated that teachers would be paid their September salaries after months of haggling between them and the Teachers Service Commision TSC.
They also came after a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta two weeks ago had come to the resolution that the pay talks start afresh and an agreement found between the two sides.
" The meeting was very good. The CS is open and confident that there will be good times ahead," the source stated.
None of the senior teachers unions leaders commented on the meeting.
" We spoke but there is nothing to say, KNUT Secretary Wilson Sossion said on the meeting.
Teachers are seeking a way forward after an earlier award of a 50/60% payrise was shot down by the Court of Appeal.
