Kiunjuri cancels 53 Waiguru era tenders

Nairobi - Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri has cancelled 53 tenders awarded during former CS Anne Waiguru's tenure as he prepares for audit amidst irregularities in the awards.
The Ministry published the notice Friday, which put paid to the hopes of the 53 winners of delivering the multi- million shilling tenders.
Kiunjuri himself states that the tenders are being scrutinized and that a fresh process will begin.
" We will set up a new process in due course," he told News24.

The tenders were to supply various hardware and software supplies as well as consultancy services.
Waiguru's tenure at the ministry was dogged by corruption and bribery allegations which eventually led to her resignation and ouster from office.
The loss of KES 791 million at the National Youth Service was the biggest scandal at the ministry to date.
It also emerged that the ministry has been overpaying for consultancy services as well as supplies, with stories that a television set was bought as KES 1.9 million emerging.
