Nairobi - The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives have detained Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero's Chief of Staff for allegedly attempting to bribe the county Senator, Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
The Nairobi County Government Chief of Staff, George Wainaina was arrested on Wednesday night and detained alongside his secretary at the EACC's Integrity Center headquarters for attempting to bribe Sonko with KES 1 million to keep mum on corruption issues in the County.
The EACC detectives said Wainaina will be probed on a number of corruption allegations such as the irregular sale of multi-million Loresho wetland, which was recently repossessed from a private developer.

Sonko had led a peaceful demonstration for the recovery of the Loresho water reservoir before seeking President Uhuru Kenyatta's intervention where the Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet and the EACC boss, Halakhe Waqo came in to repossess the land.
The private developer who had initially ignored court orders stopping any development on the wetland had already began construction on the reservoir that serves Nairobians with clean water.
Wainaina was driven to EACC headquarters under tight security after being arrested at a church in Nairobi while attending a funeral fundraiser.
He will be arraigned in court after investigations are complete.
Kidero held an urgent meeting Thursday morning with his Chiefs of Staff over the arrest Wainaina.
