Kidero to snub CORD's parallel Madaraka Day celebrations?
26 May 2016, 19:31
Nairobi - Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero will snub the CORD Coalition's parallel Madaraka Day celebrations, it has emerged.
The Governor as head of Nairobi County will preside over the day's celebrations at the Nyayo National Stadium, the usual venue for the feat since independence.
This will be so, as President Uhuru Kenyatta will be in Nakuru to preside over the celebrations there.
But with CORD holding their own parallel celebrations at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, it is not yet clear whether Kidero will move there or stick to Nyayo.
" The Governor will hold celebrations in Nairobi," his communications chief Beryl Okundi told News24.
But in a separate statement, Nairobi Branch chairman of ODM George Aladwa said that the celebrations would be held at Uhuru Park.
" We will be at Nyayo Stadium," he said.
Whatever will happen on the day then, remains to be seen.
